If you used to love a certain indie-rock/reggae band from Sydney's inner west but are looking to replace them following recent events, then boy do we have just the ticket. Meet Byron Bay five-piece Drop Legs, fine purveyors of dub- and surf-rock sounds who just dropped a wonderfully smooth new single, Jimi Dubs, taken from an upcoming EP release - Big Fiddies. Drenched in groove-based rhythms, very fat percussion, some cheeky horns and a breezy spoken word delivery with soaring chorus lines, these guys know what the hell their doing, and it's no wonder they recently supported fellow dub legends Ocean Alley at their sold out Tivoli show.
Seriously if this kinda music is your jam, get around these guys, and if our words can't convince you - here's a very cruisy video for Jimi Dubs, which captures their vibe perfectly. Check it out below, and catch 'em live on Saturday 12 May at The Northern in Byron supported by Thunder Fox.
