Following up recent singles Black Friday and Somebody Else, Tom Odell has released the third single from his upcoming album (also called Black Friday), with the playful yet poignant sounds of Answer Phone.

An intensely personal and deeply reflective cut, Answer Phone sees Odell explore concepts of loneliness and loss, set to a tender soundscape of acoustic guitar strums, subtle synth flourishes and string swells before percussion breaks the tension. Odell says, “It’s a song that explores the idea of loneliness and the desire to be looked at, a longing to not be on your own. There’s a lot of shame in it, but there’s a degree of self-awareness and humor as well.”

Answer Phone comes off the back of a huge North American tour for Odell, while his past singles have seen him propelled to one of the top 100 most streamed artists in the world, with Black Friday having clocked over 50 million.
