Left. - Lay With Me [Video Premiere + Album Stream]

Check Left.'s new video, along with an album stream and Q&A.

A few weeks ago Sydney duo Left. released their latest single Lay With Me in advance of their upcoming LP Sirens - due February 6 via Create/Control (pre-order HERE). Drawing comparisons with the likes of AlunaGeorge and Little Dragon, there’s a lot to love about them, which is why we're very stoked today to premiere the video clip for that single, along with a cheeky album stream a week in advance. We also asked the guys a few little questions to help you get to know them a little better, ahead of the album's release and the accompanying launch shows Thursday 12 February in Melbourne at Laundry Bar, Friday 13 February in Sydney at the Oxford Art Factory – details and tickets HERE, and Saturday 14 February at Black Bear Lodge, Brisbane.

ALBUM STREAM:

Tell us a bit about yourselves?

We’re just a couple of friends from Inner-West Sydney. We met writing and performing with our friends Spit Syndicate and Horrorshow. We randomly decided in late 2013 to start writing emotional, ambient electronica.

What kinda tunes we talkin’?

Glitchy, guitar driven production with jazz-inspired, ‘haunting’ (not my words) vocals – it’s a bit pop, a bit hip hop, a bit can’t-quite-put-your-finger-on-what.

Production/writing process:

Jono sits in his room for long stretches of time writing ideas with all kinds of vibes - he's a crazy scientist. Then I listen to them and write my ideas, then we get together and nut it out. At last count, we’ve got a dozen tracks ready to go, and about 70 ideas floating around. We just really enjoy writing music, so we can’t help ourselves but keep moving and just blurting it out – which I think is the most enjoyable way to be creative…don’t try too hard.

What do you do outside of Left?

I work in PR and Jono is a teacher!

Any shows coming up?

Yes sir. Melbourne 12 Feb at Laundry, Sydney 13 Feb at Oxford Art Factory, and Brisbane 14 Feb at Black Bear Lodge.

And releases?

Our album is out next week! It’s called Sirens and a lot of it is about sleeping or night time – my siren.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

Playing shows! And we’re onto the next piece of work. As I said, we’ve written a lot of music and we’re pretty fast and impatient with ourselves. We’re getting a bit more intense for the next release, a lot more groove driven…so we’re gearing up to make that happen.

Where can we hear more of your music?

The Spotify album pre-release is above, otherwise these should do the trick:
