EMC Announces EMC Play

Two nights of maximum party featuring some of the countries finest collectives...and us.

The upcoming Electronic Music Conference (EMC) is expanding from a daytime music conference to introduce EMC Play, two nights of emerging artist showcases featuring talent from an esteemed list of over 30 of Australia’s leading electronic music labels, media, brands, booking agencies and collectives (full list down the bottom). The Play program of public facing events is designed to discover the next crop of Australian electronic music talent and breathe new life into the best music venues and clubs in Sydney’s Kings Cross entertainment precinct on Wednesday December 3rd and Thursday December 4th 2014.

"The theme for this year’s EMC is Discovery and our vision is for EMC Play to be a crucial stepping stone in discovering the next Flume or the next Will Sparks," says EMC founder Neil Ackland. "It gives artists the opportunity to perform in front of some of the world’s biggest talent buyers and A&R Executives, who are coming to Australia exclusively for EMC.”

EMC Play is currently calling for applications from aspiring electronic music makers who would like to play at the event. Those selected will be programed to play alongside the country’s top talent at a showcase relevant to their style and sound and have the chance to secure a $5k international travel grant courtesy of the Jack Daniel’s #JDFutureLegends initiative aiming to support and showcase burgeoning talent who push creative boundaries. #JDFutureLegends will also be front-and-centre at EMC Play as it brings another musical exploration project to life with help from some of the bumper 2014 line-up.

Some of the world’s biggest talent buyers will be in Sydney for the event, including Donnie Estopinal (Disco Donnie Presents/SFX), Johnny Shockey (Coachella/LED Presents), Bobby Runway (SBE/SLS LA), Gary Richards (Hard LA/Live Nation), Latane Hughes (Windish Agency) and more.

Head of Programming for EMC Play is former FBi Radio General Manager of Music Dan Zilber, who'll be supported by a programming committee including Future Classic bossman Nathan McLay, Sony EDM Boss Jon Hanlon and other industry leaders.

The full line-up of events, venues and artists set to perform at EMC Play will be announced in early November.

Early bird tickets to EMC Play are now on sale to the general public for just $29+BF and will give full access to every EMC Play Showcase across both nights (subject to venue capacities), with a full price of $49+BF. Those who purchase full delegate pass to EMC will get priority entry to all EMC Play Showcases along with access to two full days of conference, networking sessions and welcome drinks. Delegate passes start at $299 for students.
