Mallrat, Baker Boy, Spacey Jane + more: Meet your Hyperfest 2020 lineup

Mallrat, Baker Boy, Spacey Jane + more: Meet your Hyperfest 2020 lineup

After announcing their return at the tail end of last year, the Perth U18s institution is back and better than ever.

At the tail end of last year came the news that Hyperfest - the U18s festival held out in Perth's eastern suburbs - was returning in the new year, after cancelling their 2019 edition due to an unfortunate lack of interest in the event. It was quite a loss, too; Hyperfest has run year-in and year-out for the better half of a decade now, giving the young kids an opportunity to see the best artists Australia has to offer outside of a club environment that often forces them to miss out due to licencing guidelines and laws. Additionally, it also brought a full-scale festival out to the city's eastern edges - a place that often misses out on any sort of large-scale musical events in favour for central locations and Fremantle.

This year, Hyperfest - once again brought to you by Drug Aware and the City of Swan - is split into two events. The first, Drug Aware On the House, will be held on Friday, March 13th as an opportunity to showcase the strength of the local music scene; five WA-based musicians will play the show, alongside a silent disco packed to the rafters with some of the state's best names in production and DJing. The second, Drug Aware Hyper, is the more classic Hyperfest setup, to be held the day after - Saturday, March 14th - with a collection of artists from around the country, including nine live acts and a stack of DJs.

Today, we're stoked to announce the official lineup for Hyperfest 2020, and with it, announce the re-arrival of an essential festival to the Perth live music calendar. The first event - Drug Aware On The House - is a stacked lineup full of the best West Australian music has to offer: Great Gable, Arno Faraji, Demon Days, Ghost Care and Muscle Club will run the live music side of things, while silent disco DJs will ensure there'll be no sense of quietness between the four hours of live music.

The second event, Drug Aware Hyper, is the classic Hyperfest lineup that brings in name from the east coast while spotlighting more incredible names from the west coast both big and small, with the festival crafting a perfect lineup that captures the brilliance of the next generation - both on stage, and those that are going to be in front of it. This year, Mallrat and Baker Boy are on headlining duties - coming off a recent festival run at a few national New Year's festivals - while the undercard is stacked too: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Spacey Jane, Clowns, Jai Waetford, DJ Denim, Alter Boy and Phoneline Valentine.

Tickets cost $25, and in addition to the packed-to-the-rafters lineup, also includes things like mini-golf, silent discos and more. Grab your tickets and more information here, and find the full lineups below:

So Kanye West just announced he's running for president in 2020

It'd be better than Donald Trump, at least.
