Listen: Drake feat. Beyonce - Can I

The most polished version of the team-up so far.

Following their work together on 2013's Mine - off Beyonce's S/T album - two of urban music's talents du jour link up for collaboration, Can I?. 12 seconds of the song had been leaked previously, but Drake recently shared the latest version on OVO Sound Radio, his show on Apple Music’s Beats 1, just a mere week after using OVO as a platform to launch What A Time To Be Alive, his Future mixtape joint

The track features a full verse from Drake and a vocal snippet from Beyonce. Over a chill backing beat and minimal hand claps, Drake sings to Beyonce: Can I call instead of text you on the hotline? , referencing his recent track Hotline Bling. Before I turn the lights out, tell me who the fuck you wanna be, he tells her. A vocal sample, rumoured to be from Beyonce XO, is used as the response. Whilst only two minutes long and probably still a demo, it's a newly mastered version, and even though its short, and its more of a sample of Bey than a feature, it's still great. Besides, there could still be a verse from Bey to come, if the long outro is anything to go by. When the final version comes, it's sure to be a hot ticket.

We're not sure whether this song will appear on Drake's upcoming album Views From The 6 or if he'll hold onto it. The album's set to be a treat with or without Beyonce on the tracklist - we knoe Willow Smith and Tinashe are defs on board. Considering how well Drake's 2015 mixtape If You're Reading This It's Too Late did without any promotion or advance warning (it's one of the top selling albums of 2015), it will be crazy to see how this album does, given its been built up since 2014.
