Listen: Action Bronson & Chance The Rapper – Baby Blue
A smooth-as-butter collab from Bam Bam and Chance over a radio-friendly Ronson beat.
We’ve already heard Actin’ Crazy, and Easy Rider, and seen the Boogie Nights-inspired album trailer. This week’s ‘Action Bronson’s new album’ update takes the form of a track with Chance the Rapper, Baby Blue.
Chance and Action work together really well on this one. The track’s all about a struggling relationship. Over a radio-happy, jazzy composition from big hitter Mark Ronson, Action slings out some blase verses (So many women wanna call me baby, and you’re wondering why I haven’t called you lately?) before Chance contributes an enjoyable, throaty, soulful, speak-sung hook (Why you always all on my back, why you gotta do me like that? Why you gotta act like a bitch, when I’m with you?). Chance then raps a super silly but cute final verse: I hope you get a paper cut. I hope you win the lottery and lose your ticket. I hope your charger don’t work. And you spill shit on your shirt, before a horn section ties up the track.
Action Bronson’s album Mr. Wonderful is out March 24 on VICE/Atlantic. Pre-order it here.
