Naarm/Melbourne-based artist drops his second genre-fusing single of the year - take a listen a day ahead of release

Dropping his second single for 2023 is Ghanaian-Australian artist Kwasi, who after May’s Ready To Go is back with the boundary blurring sounds of POISON, out September 28 but premiering on Pilerats today.

Fusing soaring indie-pop with punch post-punk and soulful hip-hop flows, POISON sees shimmering guitar riffs and propulsive, D&B style drums pushing things forward, while Kwasi’s dulcet tones & hypnotic flow deliver a personal perspective on heartbreak.

Kwasi explains “In ‘POISON’, I am caught in a daze of hopeful sadness, knowing the end is near. Hungover from intoxicating love, I romanticize the positive parts of the relationship, but deep down I know it’s best to just ‘Run away’.

POISON is the latest achievement for Kwasi whose previous releases have received playlist, radio and online media love, while on the live front he’s shared stages with the likes of 360, Banks Arcade, Genesis Owusu, and more.
