Watch: Lapsley - Hurt Me

A beautifully shot clip for a powerful single.

Hurt Me is the second of a double single release that Lapsley kicked off when she released the warped Burn last month. Unlike the 'I'm-fucking-single-material' Hurt Me has with its powerful chorus and sizzlingly mood Burn seemed like a more experimental take on what a single could be. The clip for Hurt Me has also come out and it's shot in Liverpool, which for those not familiar with the place it's essentially an old industrial hulk in the north of England, but surprisingly it's natural take provides a simple yet powerful backdrop to the emotions within Hurt Me. Especially the closing and opening shots with the deep greens and light blues. Hurt Me is Lapsley's most powerful and best attempt at crafting something that treads on the floorboards of mainstream pop and the more introverted 'alternative' scene. Also just want to put it out there that turtlenecks are great and more artists should rock them in their music videos.
