Premiere: Jamilla - Siren

Boorloo-based vocalist, producer & DJ returns with new single of soulful, r&b infused drum & bass + cinematic music video

After recently returning to the live stage supporting six60, Boorloo-based Jamilla is back with her first new music in three years, with the soulful, r&b meets drum & bass sounds of Siren, which alongside its music video are premiering on Pilerats today!

Teaming up with producer JCAL (Ziggy Ramo, Your Girl Pho, Mali Jo$e, Otiuh), Siren sees Jamilla's striking, emotional and powerful vocals over a drum & bass beat that features restrained piano alongside bouncy synths, rumbling bass lines and relentless drum breaks, with the result a beautiful fusion of Jamilla's signature sound with upper tempo dance vibes.

Explaining the creative process of Siren, Jamilla explains: “Siren was written during a time when I was reflecting on what kind of music I loved as a teenager and what kind of artists originally made me want to be a producer to begin with. I’d been really into the rise in popularity of drum & bass and jungle with artists such as PinkPantheress, Nia Archives and venbee and wanted to make something on a similar wavelength. It was different from anything I’d done before but I had a lot of fun putting the ridiculously high bpm drums together and messing with some hard hitting bass and synth sounds.”

Alongside the single comes a cinematic, storytelling video detailing the ups and downs of an intimate relationship, featuring shots of some iconic Fremantle locations including the legendary Mojos Bar.

Give Siren a watch and listen as it premiers on Pilerats today, and for everyone in Boorloo, you can catch Jamilla live at the Siren Single launch on Friday, May 26 at The Bird - see below for more details!
