Watch: B Forrest – Lament (Premiere)

Soulful, experimental chill from Chicago; with a sweet animation to match.

Chicago singer / songwriter / guitarist Brendan Forrest - B Forrest - is an emerging music artist whose made a strong impression on us with his eclectic, soulful experimental-chill sounds. His work bears both the rootsy, authentic vibe of his home city and the experimental, spacey music of Los Angeles' beat scene.

We’re happy to share the video for his single Lament with you, to watch for the first time - a charming, animated visual created by this new talent himself in collaboration with animator/ director Weston Getto Allen. The track is the album closer on B Forrest’s Back To Bodhi, a DIY affair recorded by B Forrest himself across Cape Town and Chicago. B Forrest told us that the track sits at the intersection between the experimental and electronic realm; a symbol of B Forrest’s movement between the organic recording of the majority of the album (B Forrest plays guitar and sings on the release), and the electronic touches (synths, electronic drums).

For those lucky enough to live in Chicago, B Forrest is launching the album (which he worked on with producer Doug Saltzman), with big screen projections of the visuals, at a vintage video arcade bar, this weekend – nice.  Listen to Lament below and head to B Forrest's website to order a vinyl version of Back To Bodhi (on which Lament is a hidden track). Check out the album artwork, by NYC artist Javier Piñon, below, too.
