Say G’day to a new member of the Future Classic family.

It’s fair to say that Future Classic are - and have been for quite a sometime - a leader within the Australian music industry. Thus, when they invite someone new into their family, people take notice. This time around it's Sydney duo World Champion joining the ranks. Consisting of Julian Sudek and Will Campion, this partnership seem to be all about energetic psych-pop.

World Champion came to fruition after Sudek, who has worked with the likes of George Maple and Jonti, was ‘wowed’ by Campion’s vocal abilities as frontman for The Chevaliers. Before long they landed in a studio brainstorming what appears to be an incredibly catchy palette of sound.

Avocado Galaxy marks the guys' first release; a racy, electronically-founded pop tune full of looped guitar chords, percussive claps and techno hits. Campion’s voice suits to a dime, bringing to mind the wonderful work of Jono Ma and Gabe Winterfield of Jagwar Ma. Interestingly, Sudek and Ma have a long history together with Jono actually co-producing the opener. This is a tune that’s meant to get bodies moving and will no doubt do exactly that.

Avocado Galaxy is the first off a forthcoming EP from these gentlemen, which isn’t too far away. Word is also that the tune will be getting the remix treatment from bearded house dude Tornado Wallace and Sweden’s Dan Lissvik, so plenty to look forward to!

If you’re interested in catching World Champion in the flesh they’ll be taking the stage at the Volumes Festival in Sydney this weekend and Brisbane’s BIGSOUND next month.

With a talented network at their disposal, you’ll soon be hearing a whole heap more from these Sydneysiders.
