Listen: CRAY - Up In Smoke

Heavy trap bangers courtesy of one of LA’s freshest producers.

LA-based Cheney Ray, better known under her producing alias CRAY, is one of the freshest artists in the trap game. Despite only having a couple of songs out there in the trap world, she already boasts quite the following, sporting a pretty impressive 10,000 followers on Soundcloud and upwards of 100,000 plays on some of her tunes. After taking on a future-bass sound with 1UP, Fortune and Indigo, CRAY has now taken heavily to the trap side of things, with a thumper called Up In Smoke.

It starts out pretty slowly, with a solid half-a-minute build of synth, but it doesn’t take long before it breaks down into a heavy trap beat, brimming with fire-emoji worthy bass and synth stabs. It’s very realistic to say that this could possibly be the future of trap (future-trap?), alongside her partner in crime XVII (who is responsible for this massive flip of Alison Wonderland’s U Don’t Know).
