"So, I tricked my rock'n'roll friends into helping me edit one of my favourite techno tracks..."

Barnt has released on London based label Hinge Finger, wax specialists Ariola, and has recently delivered the 131 remix package on his newly minted label, Magazine. For the unfamiliar, Barnt deals with tracky, noisy, machine driven techno and regularly finds himself moving bodies at some of Europe's most interesting and forward thinking dances. So when LA big room Dirtybird Justin Jay came to the table, techno staunch-ness and earnest intrigue rang their alarm bells, in harmony.

But, not to worry y'all! it's a killer, and here's why: live Instruments. A masterclass in striking minimalism, the anthemic Chappell makes the perfect contender for a new coat of (remix) paint, this time with a swathe of IRL instrumentation from not only Justin Jay, but guitarist Benny Bridges and drummer Henry Was. Adding weight to the concept that all you really need is a top shelf kick drum, some ice cold, shimmering hi-hats, and some real world groove, you'll want to cop the free download:

The relentless, piercing hi hats of the original are in tact, and a little extra foot stomping flavour in the live guitar licks. Justin clearly had a lot of fun making this, we're all about live edits, and if some patient techno muckery is finding paths to new ears by way of a fantastically done LIVE interpretation from a cat who plays to thousands of people on the regular, that gets our tick.
