Listen: Arca - Soichiro
The first taste of his upcoming album, Mutant.
Arca's music is chock full of swirling violin melodies and oozes perfectly tuned crashes, smashes and explosions, but for many, it definitely falls under the category of 'difficult listening'.
However, with production under his belt for Bjork, Twigs and more, is the Venezuelan artist set to melt and reconfigure the sounds of pop to come? We reckon so, and new track Soichiro continues that trent. Acting as the first taste from Arca's forthcoming album, battle worn muted trumpets, and blistered piano keys make an appearance, highlighting Arca's incredibly adept hand in creating wide spaces, far beyond the bounds of his monitor screen, and though I still feel like i wanted more out of the first full length release, the stand alone bangers have kept on flowing.
And so I'll put my money on the forthcoming second album, Mutant, solidifying our man as a future star of new school pop production flavours. As beautiful as it is disturbing, the video simply features a writhing Arca and a thick blue light. Check it out below. Fans of Evian Christ, MESH, and any noise music lovers could find something to love in this.
