Get to know Ash Pluggy & Boston Switch, who just dropped a new single, Talk About It

A couple of blokes who seem to have life pretty figured out.

Boston Switch and Ash Pluggy are a couple of WA-based DJ/producers who seem to have shit pretty well figured out. Spending half the year travelling to DJ residencies in places like Greece or surfing in Indonesia, they've been holding down many a dancefloor over the past few years. This year sees the duo shift their attention to production, and they've just unleashed a little taste of what we can expect with new single Talk About It. We're getting a bit of a Chainsmokers vibe from it, except we actually like this and are looking forward to seeing what the fellas come up with in 2018.

Take a listen below and find out a little more about them and their visual partner in crime Lewis Martin:

Tell us about about yourselves?

We're three best mates who have spent the past two years travelling around the world together as collective. Made up of two DJ/music producers (Boston Switch & Ash Pluggy) along with content creator Lewis Martin AKA The Grom. All hailing from West Australia.

What kinda tunes we talkin’?

We're super focused on writing songs. Keeping it super chilled and easy listening. Saying that we love our shows super energetic and wild so we'll being doing VIP edits for most our originals. We're also super keen on getting young producers involved to throw down some heavier remixes of our tracks and push them out through our network.

Production/writing process:

We move around so much, from 4-6 months a year overseas from Europe to Indonesia, Thailand and the South Pacific. This has meant a lot of production on the road and running Ableton with headphones. Saying that everything we do needs studio time at some point. Being back home and down south in West Aus' is definitely the most productive we get in the studio. Vocals are super important to us and the story they tell. The tracks definitely start around the lyrics and vocals which will dictate the feel and sound selection/design of the song.

Can you tell us about your new single, Talk About It?

Super scary putting this out! We've held off on releasing any original for so long as we really wanted to kick things off from the start. Saying that, after reviewing the same song for the millionth time you have no idea if you love it or hate so we reached a point we felt comfortable to release it. We're ready to focus on our future releases now. We we're overwhelmed with the response as we had no idea how the first track would be received especially being relatively chilled and mellow!

Any shows coming up?

We're locking ourselves away! The next two months we'll be away in the tropics and purely focused on music production. We're really excited about our next two tracks and can't wait to drop them. Our goal is to have our next track More Like Her come out late June just before get back and go on a huge run of shows!

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

Each winter we usually head straight to Europe for a ton of shows at our residencies we hold in Greece and Croatia but this year as we're releasing music we're super keen to stay home and focus on performing more in Australia. It's also much easier not being on the road to keep the production rolling. We'll also sneak off to Indonesia for a short break after our July/August shows to unwind, recharge and be respired before Aussie Summer hits.

Where can we hear more of your music?

Talk About It went up on all major platforms last week! We've released it independently so really pushing our triple j Unearthed account which it currently sits at #2 on the Charts. Way beyond what we expected but we're stoked so many crew got around it! You can also grab it on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and Soundcloud. Lewis will be filming, directing and editing the Official Music Video over the next month.
