Taking counterculture influences and infusing them with an undeniably Australian spirit are TRIPSITTA on their new single of psych rock sounds, Velvet Zen, which alongside its storytelling music video are premiering on Pilerats today a few days ahead of release.

A slow-building, epic affair, Velvet Zen gains momentum over its nearly 5 minute runtime, evolving from a hypnotic cut of downtempo rock to full blown psychedelic freak out, wailing guitar solo and all.

Speaking on their new single, frontman Jack Williams explains "‘Velvet Zen’ has been in the live set for a while, and had been asked every time where people can we listen to it. Whilst recording at Analog Heart Studios, we wanted to capture those beautiful moments in the song with moving guitar leads and vocal fifth harmonies to guide the listener to each new section.”

Meanwhile, the video for Velvet Trip tells the tale of a couple’s journey “towards finding peace and unity in their own world, becoming one with the universal flow”, featuring some appropriately trippy passages.

Their new single is the latest feather in the TRIPSITTTA cap, following a string of singles that have seen support from triple j while they’ve shared stages with the likes of Busby Marou, Hoodoo Gurus, The Super Jesus, and more.
