Breaking through with his debut single is emerging Sydney-based singer-songwriter Kel and the emotional & immersive sounds of Paradise, out April 13 but premiering on Pilerats today!

A soaring indie-rock ballad with plenty of pop sensibility, Paradise sees Kel exploring interesting arrangement techniques, with the track’s opening 90 seconds consisting of slowly building piano and Kel’s striking vocals, before the aural floodgates give way to percussion, groovy bass and soaring guitar lines. The result is a rousing and seriously impressive first single, leaving us hungry for more.

On his new release, Kel explains “Paradise is a song about a break-up. It’s a metaphor about losing something special about a place you might’ve shared with someone else, and how places and feelings change sometimes. It was inspired by a trip with my friends to a beach on the South Coast NSW. I wanted to write a song that felt like that place”.

Now with his first single out to the world, Kel sets his sights on his debut EP, as well as the launch party for Paradise on release day, April 13, at The Great Club in Marrickville, where punters can expect to hear what Kel’s got on the horizon.

Give Paradise a spin as it premieres on Pilerats today!
