Combining the rawness of punk with the commanding vibes of rock & roll is Emilee South who has readied her new ode to breaking free from the pressures of conventional modern life, with Weekend out September 20 but premiering on Pilerats today!

Opening with a propulsive rhythm section, Weekend soon gives way to angular guitars and South’s powerful vocals outlining the absurdities of our modern way of life while maintaining a hopeful outlook. Emilee explains "It's about the rat race! Cappo Dogs™, corporate jobs, a cog in the machine, a rat on the wheel, working for The Man™ day in and day out."

Meanwhile, the music video (directed by Nick McKinlay, with Art Direction by Loni Rae Thomson and Al Parkinson starring as the main character, 'Judy,) pays homage to classics like “9 to 5”, portraying “liberation from the office grind”.

South will be launching the single at Old Bar on Friday, October 13, with the single out September 20 - but you can enjoy Weekend today:
