Lisa Mitchell returns with a sunny new single, The Boys and is on tour

The Boys is the first single from Lisa Mitchell's upcoming third album, Warriors.

The immediate thought for most people who know Lisa Mitchell is her debut album and tracks like Neapolitan Dreams but it isn't 2008 anymore. It's 2016 and it's clear Mitchell isn't living in the past anymore, gone are the tinkling bells and sweet little melodies. Instead, The Boys takes references with an 80s-styled drum-beat and a more relaxed, confident style of vocals. But while The Boys may not be plumbing her past sonic decisions, Mitchell has called this song and the new album, Warriors, it's part of a highly personal one about her childhood.

The clip compliments this individual choice of Mitchell as it's less a music video where you're taken to one set moment but a short film jumping between a variety of moments. And for that reason you seem to care more about actually happens to everyone in the clip, characters don't just appear once and then disappear but come in and out of focus in The Boys. It's a fitting start for Lisa Mitchell latest album and while it may not send her up the charts like her debut album did, it's definitely something to listen too.

And it gets better! Mitchell is also hitting the road for a short east coast tour with Grouplove, the details are below:

Tues 16th August - Oxford Art Factory, Sydney (sold out)

Wed 17th August - Oxford Art Factory, Sydney

Thurs 18th August - Corner Hotel, Melbourne (sold out)
