Ty Segall - $ingle$ 2

Ty Segall - $ingle$ 2

A cracking new compilation from psych-rocker Ty Segall.

Garbage-rocker Ty Segall is back with a compilation album of sorts of his singles from 2011-2013 and in particuarly his time in the SF 388 scene (San Francisco's Garage Rock scene, read HERE for more details). For those unaware of Ty Segall he's a psych rocker that has played in so many bands I'd be here all day listing them but his most recognisable project would have to be Thee Oh Sees. This singles compilation, the third of it's kind, tracks Segall's progress away from just short bursts of guitar fuzz into more developed fuzz and some outstanding accoustic work.

Some of the stand out pieces include Femme Fatale, a Velvet Underground cover that epitomises the rawness of Segall. But then other tracks For Those Who Weep, a B-side is very much akin to John Lennon picking up a guitar and asking for Segall to turn the fuzz off for a moment. Again It's A Problem proves that Ty Segall has moved on from just vibrant patches of psych-noise into a more matured slowed-down 70s rock without the acid. Ty Segall isn't for everyone but the depth of his canon proves that the man knows how to write a song and if you're interested to find out more about him Pitchfork ran a solid cover story on him.

Ty Segall will also be in the country soon as part of his Meredith festival appearance and his side-shows dates are listed below. And if you live in Perth you better get down to see not only Ty Segall but Pilerats Records' own Hamjam warming up for him.
