Pilerats' 10 Days Of Christmas #10
Next level listening with speciality headphones from Headphonic.
We're feeling a bit, um, "Christmassy" so we've taken it upon ourselves to launch the inaugural Pilerats' 10 Days Of X-Mas - a different giveaway will be up for grabs each day leading up to December 25.
Yes, we're aware it's supposed to be 12 Days of Christmas. But there's a limit to how much we can suck up to people for free stuff ;)
The Internet is a cool place to buy things, but sometimes you forget how great it is to go into a bricks and mortar store and have an actual purchasing experience that involves expert, real-human guidance (not just reading a bunch of user reviews).
Headphonic in Tuart Hill are a speciality headphone store, stocking every type of headphone under the sun, from sets costing $100 to sets costing thousands of bucks, as well as audio accessories. Their top end products and unique brands make them a go-to for many Perth producers and studio engineers in WA, too.
The guys at the store are basically the most helpful dudes on the planet and have infinite sound knowledge, that they've been sharing for almost ten years now at the shop. Owner Marcus and his staff make it their priority to find you the best pair out there, taking into account your budget, source, and will even go into as much detail as the type of music you listen to the most, to ensure your headphones bring out the best in the sounds you’re listening to.
As a music journalist and radio host, good headphones are a big priority for me, I listen to a lot of music at my computer and needed headphones that would do justice to the tracks – would hate to give something a bad review / brush off a track based on not being able to hear the full dynamic range of the song! I also needed a pair that weren’t too expensive and that were comfortable enough to wear for hours on end, and wanted a pair that looked a bit more unique than your standard black. The Headphonic guys helped me choose a pair of Audio Technica ATH-RE70s, styled in retro cream and brown leather, and they’ve done me really well the past couple of years, and have shown no deterioration in quality. If they ever do cark it, I’ll be buying my next pair from Headphonic for sure.
Head down to 83 Waneroo Road, Tuart Hill, and test some of Headphonic's gear out. You can also shop online here if you're not in Perth. Thanks to Headphonic, we have an awesome prize of a pair of Denon DN-HP1000s - great for DJing or listening at home - up for grabs!
