Waleed Aly explains why we were all bugging you to enrol to vote last night

Doesn't matter who you're going to vote for, just make sure you do.

For reasons only really known to those that do have an issue with him (we're sure this post will cop plenty of angry comments on Facebook asking why would anyone listen to him), recent Gold Logie winner Waleed Aly is a pretty divisive figure in comment threads all over the country. We love the guy, in particular his ability to dumb things down in a non-condescending way about day-to-day issues that effect a lot of us whether we like it or not. Take last night's plea to make sure you're enrolled to vote. With any luck your Facebook feed was filled with a lot of different people - friends, family, media outlets etc. - asking you to enrol to envote. Particularly the coveted 18-24 year olds out there.

Why were we asking you to vote? It's not as simple as so we can topple the current government. It's as simple as giving yourself a voice. Bitch about (or support) the current state of affairs all you want in Facebook comment thread arguments, but to have any chance of real input towards who leads this country, you need to be enrolled to vote, and then actually do it - it's really that simple:
