Watch: Goldlink - Dance On Me
Night-bike cruises and illicit parties, in breakout rapper GoldLink's new clip.
Breakout talent Goldlink's dance/rap combo is the means by which he's captured himself a unique audience, and co-signs from the likes of Rick Rubin - in the past he's reached out to the likes of Sango and Kaytranada for smooth beats to rap over, and its worked in his favour. Milo Mills and Hasta were behind the jumped-up house beat for Dance On Me, the track the Virginia rapper released soon after he scored a spot as one of XXL 2015's Freshman List (likely in response to the award as he didn't have much by way of releases at that point since The God Complex). It's an awesome track that oozes sexy and showcases Goldlink's rapid flow.
Today some visuals have cropped up for Dance On Me. Directed by Simon Davis and Jason Sondock, according to Goldlink, this video was deliberately made to be 'Mom friendly', and is dedicated to his mom: 'Mom's said she loves Dance On Me but the lyrics are Rated R,' he said to The FADER. "Mom, I made you a video that's PG."
The clip begins with a boss calling his young employee and ordering him to bike over to the shop in the middle of the night to investigate some kids who've broken in. When our young protagonist gets there, there's a chill late night dance party going down, so he decides 'why break it up?' and gets in on the action, joining some dance battles and eventually finding a nice lady to 'dance up on' him.
Watch below. Goldlink's currently on a big deal tour of the States with Mac Miller, Tory Lanez, Domo Genesis and others. The song will be included on And After That We Didn’t Talk, Goldlink's forthcoming mixtape that's due out on reputable LA label Soulection.
