Earlier in the year we were stoked to premiere the dope music video for Tone Youth’s cut ASICS, and now after recently conquering Singapore the boys are back with a fresh new single, The Saga, out November 3 but premiering on Pilerats today.

Opening with a filtered out jazzy sample, The Saga kicks in with big boom bap style drums and that addictively chopped jazz sample providing the base for T$oko, Robb James & Jimmy Drones to all spit their distinct yet complementary bars over, alongside a catchy & melodic vocal hook.

Produced by Jimmy, the beat for The Saga lives up to its namesake, with drones weaving three beats into the final product, providing different pockets and frequencies for the different MCs to explore. Each of the three members deliver bars that detail their individual takes on the hustle and hard work it takes while on the come-up.

On their new single, Rob James explains “The last few years have been about building and developing our sound. We’re students of the culture and hip-hop lovers first and foremost, so the last few years have seen us really lean into that sound and make that vintage style hip-hop with a modern twist. But we feel like it’s time to really push the envelope now and create a whole new sound for us. ‘The Saga’ is the start of that journey for Tone Youth, it’s like a new chapter.”

That new chapter includes their forthcoming EP set for an early 2024 release, but in the meantime enjoy The Saga:
