Premiere: Mikey HUNJ switches up Allday's Codeine 17 feat. Gracelands

The Melbourne-based producer remixes a cut from his tour-mates' new album, just a month after dropping his own EP.

For those unfamiliar with the name Mikey HUNJ, you may know him as Allday's touring DJ - with the Melbourne-based DJ and producer touring with the Australian rap break-out for much of the past few years. He's also been in the production game for a while now, most recently releasing his genre-bending Aurora Gang EP back in April, which carried some really heavy, hip-hop-leaning sounds particularly in singles such as Belly Up. Today he returns, dropping a quick remix of his bandmate's single Codeine 17, taken from Allday's most recent record Speeding. About to head off on tour with the young hip-hop gun in July (with Japanese Wallpaper, Nicole Millar and Mallrat in tow), Mikey HUNJ masterfully adds his own bass-heavy twist on Codeine 17, taking the laid-back flow of Allday and the smooth vocals of the guest-featuring Gracelands and layering them above a frenzied, hip-hop/future-bass hybrid of a production which oozes with this addictive coolness. When combined with his Aurora Gang EP, 2017 is quickly shaping up to be Mikey's biggest year yet, giving his own solo alias a leg-up whilst also being an essential touring member for one of the most in-demand hip-hop acts on the Australian touring circuit right now.
