From 17-year-old Brisbane producer JOY. comes About Us, a rich track packed with pulsing beats and ethereal vocals. Olivia McCarthy AKA JOY. established herself as a rising act to watch after performing as the Triple J Unearthed Winner at the Brisbane leg of Laneway Festival and featuring on Peking Duk’s Like a Version of Take Me Over last year, to go with a host of great single releases.

About Us is the first single to drop from JOY.’s upcoming debut EP Ode, and it delivers a sonic treat with sinking bass lines, sweeping synths and enchanting lyricism. A small glitch effect spices up her trademark silky vocals, and JOY. comments: “Over a week in May I locked myself in my studio consuming only coffee and doughnuts, and these longs nights resulted in me making a lot of whack shit. Out of the abundance of beats, material and ideas that I had collected over the past few months, from writing on the road and at home, I found a common thread and felt like these four tracks told a good story from start to finish. I’m really excited to finally put out a whole body of work, and for people to cop it in one go.”

Ode is available from August 28th, but in the meantime you can enter JOY.’s dreamy pop world at BIGSOUND or as she supports Miami Horror on their national tour (remaining dates below):
