Meet Sycco, who continues to strive with her third single, Peacemaker

After a brilliant two tracks over the last twelve months, Sycco makes it three from three with her latest single.

It's difficult to define and translate a fully fleshed out and realised vision within your first few songs, and when an artist is capable of doing so, it's often a sign that there's a lot to be excited about when it comes to their future. It's something that 18-year-old Brisbane musician Sasha McLeod has somehow seemingly pulled off with only a handful of songs under her belt, doing so with two introductory singles across the last little while - Starboard Square last year, followed by Tamed Grief earlier this year - and in the process of refining with her third, Peacemaker.

Arriving today ahead of a handful of tour dates that'll see her support everyone from Julia Jacklin and Aldous Harding to The Babe Rainbow, Peacemaker is a whispy delight from a musician really beginning to find her feet, drawing attention to a soulful vocal rich with storytelling lyricism and beauty that, together with a shimmering indie-electronic-leaning production, creates a really incredible moment worth paying attention to. "Peacemaker is a bit of a dancey one," she says on the track. "Essentially, It’s about not letting anyone around you affect your mood or your day, or year or anything for that matter."

It's empowering and groove-filled, lush with all the elements you'd expect from a musician quickly finding their element within the rising, pop-adjacent world, and with that aforementioned range of tour dates incoming (you can find them all below!), it's a great time to introduce yourself to an act that may very well be one-to-watch in the twelve months ahead.

Dive into Peacemaker below:

Tell us about yourself?

Hellooooo I’m Sasha, I’m from Brisbane, I’m freshly 18, I have blue eyes, I really like music and I haven’t drunk enough water today.

What’s the vibe music-wise?

I’d say there is a mixture of vibes - an energetic vibe, a colourful vibe, a bold vibe dabbling in some psychy vibes too! Also… vibe check?

What are your production and writing processes like?

Most of the time I just start recording in my bedroom and flesh out all my ideas, then just refine from there. On occasion though I do get the old acoustic guitar out and write that way but when I write, I never think about just one instrument or one melody so that doesn’t always work for me. I think about the song as a whole song.

Can you tell us about your new single, Peacemaker?

Peacemaker is a bit of a dancey one! Essentially, It’s about not letting anyone around you affect your mood or your day, or year or anything for that matter! I feel the clip really demonstrates that with a few cheeky references!!
