5 UNDER 500: January Electronic Edition

Get to know some of the finest up-and-comers in electronic music.

Last month we kicked off an electronic segment of 5 UNDER 500, a nice little article we've been running for the past couple of months that promote some of the world's best artists with under 500 likes on Facebook. We've searched everywhere for the next big artists, trawling through SoundCloud, YouTube, HypeMachine, tonnes of other blogs and generally scouring every single corner of the Internet looking for lesser-known acts we think you'll dig. So without further delay, here are 5 budding producers, under 500 likes on Facebook, that we think are about to blow up in 2016.

Tim Legend (pictured above) - Waiting On You

Based out of the United States, promising producer Tim Legend has been tweaking his sound for a while now, settling for a sound that blends ambient trap with heavy synth drops for a unique, stripped-back future-bass sound. His soundcloud collection is extensive, with singles like 808s & Birthdaycakes and A Song For Her being obvious highlights, but his most recent release is his most polished piece of work yet. The single is quite short but it's damn good, with soft sample loops and synth swirling around clicks and bass stabs, which builds into a hefty, bass-heavy drop brimming with syncopated synth stabs that's over way too soon. At time of writing, Tim Legend's sitting on exactly 500 likes, but you can like him on Facebook to push him over the boundary HERE.

Champagne Internet - Lanks - Aurelia Remix

Originally of Yacht Club DJs fame, Champagne Internet is an act we've featured before, making the list as one of our picks for Hermitude's Ukiyo remix competition. His most recent release is a remix of LANKS' Aurelia, which sees the producer taking the original's uplifting vocals and adding an addictive, disco-house beat, packed full of driving bass guitar and percussion. With an arsenal of funk-infused beats under his belt, Champagne Internet is sure to whip up a storm in 2016, and you can like him on Facebook HERE.

 TOUTANT - Distor

Hailing from France, it should come as no surprise that 23-year-old producer TOUTANT is a master of heavy-hitting techno, with his most recent single Distor following deeply in the footsteps of fellow Frenchmen Gesaffelstein. Distor is already one of the largest songs of the year, with an absolutely ferocious, industrial techno beat brimming with heaving bass and dark, grimy synth. The single is absolutely monstrous to say the least, and you can follow him on Facebook HERE.

Juelz - Winter EP

Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Flow-Fi fam member Juelz is one of the strongest new-comers to the trap game, exploding onto the scene late last year with Cocaine, one of the hardest-hitting trap singles of the year, which layered an absolutely massive bass line and jersey influences underneath vocal samples from Major Lazer's Aerosol Can. He's just released his debut EP, Winter, which sees the producer blend swelling bass with vocal samples and driving percussion. He's also just been announced as the newest member of legendary collective Flow-Fi, which boasts members including Ekali, AYWY and more. Like Juelz on Facebook HERE.

Airwav & Enschway - Quantum Love

Coming from New York, Airwav is a budding producer who should be on everyone's radar. Although having recently collaborated with StéLouse, his single with local legend Enschway, Quantum Love, is an obvious highlight, thanks to two heavy future-bass-styled drops that sits either side of a building synth melody and a unique, synth melody. Definitely one to keen an eye on in 2016, you can like Airwav on Facebook HERE.
