Premiere: Sunday Honey - Silver Lining

Naarm/Melbourne alt-rockers continue their impressive run with immersive & dreamy new single - take a first listen

Back with their third single for the year are Naarm-based four-piece Sunday Honey and the soaring, melodic sounds of Silver Lining, out September 1 but premiering on Pilerats today!

Written by vocalist and drummer Fox DeRoche while travelling around Europe, the band explain “The bare bones of it was written in Paris by Fox when he was travelling Europe, and then once he was back we all added our own unique flair to it until it was at a spot which we all loved.

Opening with a mood-setting instrumental intro that kicks off with a bang, Silver Lining soon sees irresistible vocal melodies, a driving rhythm section and big guitar chords enter the mix, before DeRoche’s honeyed voice cut through. Speaking on the meaning of their new single, the band say “It’s a story about a woman losing herself in the grips of society and going down the path of substance abuse. We are all strong advocates for mental health, so we felt this song resonated a lot with us. We’ve written a lot of our songs about mental health and substance abuse.”

As well as joining their recent singles On My Mind and Slow Dance, Silver Lining comes off the back of Sunday Honey’s recent triumphant string of shows in Melbourne, including selling out the iconic Gershwin Room at The Espy - give it a spin a day ahead of release.
