Premiere: ELKO FIELDS tease their second EP with its first taste, I’m Only Human

She'll be dropping her new EP, 4:44, on September 13th, and launching the track on September 20th.

A couple of years ago now, we were introduced to rising Brisbane duo ELKO FIELDS, who at the time, were walking us through a debut EP which felt like a step into the future of Australian rock, capturing the energy of our distinct surf-rock sound but in a way that felt forward-thinking and unique. In the time since, the pairing has stripped to just one member - Kella Vee, joined by The Medics' Jhindu-Pedro Lawrie in a live setting - and in the process, refined what they're all about, showcasing a new side (though still thick with that distinct energy captured on their first EP) with their first track in two years, last year's Arch Nemesis.

Now, we welcome her next chapter and open the doors to a large second half of the year remaining, with Kella Vee announcing the second ELKO FIELDS EP - 4:44 - will arrive on September 13th via Airlock Records, with its first taste premiering today in the form of I'm Only Human. Recorded with Nick Didia (Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam, Powderfinger), I'm Only Human is a contrasting return that places heavy riffs and powerful rhythms with vulnerability and personal lyricism, spotlighting both songwriting and energy as her versatility and strength as a musician seemingly grows with every release. "During the writing of the album I spent my average day in a nursing home, an environment that I had never contemplated to be a place of beauty love," she says on the track, which will be launched on September 20th at Brisbane's Bearded Lady - more information HERE. "In an unusually beautiful way, I was confronted with the concept of death on a regular basis during a time I was grieving from the loss and betrayal in a relationship."

The full track is an incredibly special display of emotion and how this can move music to become its most powerful, and ahead of its full release this Thursday, stream it exclusively to Pilerats below.
