Babitha - Brighter Side Of Blue

Babitha - Brighter Side Of Blue

The Eora based musician flexes her range as a songwriter with the release of this impressive debut LP

Alt-country singer and songwriter Babitha follows on from 2021's EP Through The Light, and more recent singles Only Fair and Night and Day with the release of her debut album Brighter Side Of Blue out now via Spunk! Records / Virgin Music Australia.

Already gracing the cover of Spotify AUNZ's The Local List, in addition to a stack of playlist placements, making FBi Radio's Album Of The Week, and Feature Album praises at 2SER and Edge Radio, Babitha shares that the LP was written over two years, and recorded in October of 2021, sharing "As the world plunged into lockdown, writing became the one constant in a sea of uncertainty, so I took that time to venture into new sonic territories and play with songwriting as a form." But that wasn't at all at play on this personal and profound 12-track release, as she continues to explain "Fresh out of a long-term relationship and the world in the midst of a global pandemic, there was a chaos blend and external forces at play - a potent mix of anger, grief, cynicism, hope and gratitude, all of which have been captured in the record. Translating both traditional and non-linear narratives intuitively and dabbling into more folk, psych-rock, new wave and pop territories, Brighter Side Of Blue is an impressive debut LP that showcases Babitha's range and talet as an artist.
