Over at Pilerats, we listen to a stack of new music each and everyday... Here are our favourites from the week that was (in alphabetical, not favourite order!). Checkout some of our other picks of the week in our Music Videos wrap-up, including new heat from Cordae & Anderson Paak, Fever Ray, midwxst & Denzel Curry and more.

1300 - Steve Jobs feat. Kwame

UK Garage meets modern raps on this new single from Korean-Australian group 1300 teaming up with fellow MC and producer Kwame.

Avalon Emerson - Sandrail Silhouette

The most pleasant aural surprise of the week came in the form of Avalon Emerson's new single that sees the Berlin-based DJ and leftfield house and techno producer take a completely new direction. A guitar-led, string featuring slice of indie pop, Sandrail Silhouette takes cues from shoegaze and 90s alt rock with an atmospheric twist.

Blondshell - Joiner

With a nice injection of alt-country, the latest single from L.A. singer-songwriters on the rise Blondshell's forthcoming debut album was the result of her having listened to a lot of Britpop, with the catchy melodies and sing-a-long inducing choruses shining through.

Bonobo & Jacques Greene - Fold

Both influential and iconic producers in their own right, the first time collab of Bonobo and Greene resulted in an addictive, melodic, driving cut of deep house goodness.

Clark - Town Crank

Another influential veteran producer dropping new music this week was English experimentalist Clark, marking the first time we've heard his vocals front and centre. Executive produced by Thom Yorke, Town Crank is the result of Clark thinking "What would it sound like if the Beach Boys took MDMA and made a rave record?" and we couldn't be anymore excited for his Sus Dog album, due out in May.

Eyedress - HOUSE OF CARDS (Kevin Shields Rainbow Belts Remix)

A highlight of his 2022 album FULL TIME LOVER, Eyedress' HOUSE OF CARDS has been remixed by none other than My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields, flipping the funky and danceable original into a wobbly, psychedelic, floating cut.

Jonah Yano & BADBADNOTGOOD - the ordinary is ordinary because it ordinarily repeats

The latest single from Montreal jazz musician Jonah Yano's new album Portrait of a Dog sees him team up with none other than fellow Canadian modern jazz maestros BBNG for this freewheeling slice of avant-garde jazz.

Slowthai - Selfish

A few weeks out from touching down in Australia for Laneway, English MC and musician slowthai announced new album UGLY (an acronym for U Gotta Love Yourself) with the rap-infused post-punk of Selfish.

Terry - Gold Duck

Five years on from their last album I'm Terry, Melbourne indie oddballs Terry are back with the wonderfully wonky new single Gold Duck, ahead of new album Call Me Terry out in April.
