Young Thug reads the lyrics to Best Friend so you can (kinda) understand them

It's actually quite cute.

Young Thug follows Yung Lean in the ‘most divisive rappers to ever do it’ stakes, pushing out mixtape after mixtape of stretched out, warbling hip hop, employing an at times grating (but most of the time, groundbreaking) flow that has non-hip hop fans and your classic boom bap backpack rap aficionado (shout out Old Heads!) seething with… well let’s not call it hatred, maybe confusion? Luckily GQ came to the rescue and asked Thugga to read, slowly, the lyrics to one of his greatest (and sweetest) tracks to date, Best Friend.

It’s true that if you’re don’t actively listen to a certain type of music, it can all sound pretty much the same, plus, it’s hard to argue that Thugger is a lyrical genius when 90% of the world can’t understand a word dude is saying. An endearing watch for fans, an educational piece for those still scratching their head about one of this generations most exciting rappers. Big up GQ, watch below. Slimmmmmmme!
