I've always been a fan of minimalism in music and Orlean's Faster is a perfect example of this merged with pop. Faster has a constant sense of progress, the name is rather apt, building around a throbbing bassline and the saccharine vocals of Bella Li before it flows into the chorus. There's nothing wasted on this song, no extraneous drums or vocal effects to confuse you and this simplicity is what makes it shine.
Faster's video only compliments this, syncing up an ECG of a beating heart to the flow of the song and its lyrics. It's released via Joanna Syme's - you'll recognise the name as one-half of Big Scary - new label Hotel Motel Records. You'll be forgiven for forgetting this is Syme's second label as she only as runs Pieater which releases Big Scary's music alongside artists like Airling and Christopher Port.
