Perth artist Carla Adams explores the idea of masculinity in her latest exhibition.

Carla Adams is a recent graduate of Curtin University and a widely exhibited artist in Perth. Her newest body of work is presented in an exhibition of tapestries and portraits titled MAVERICK, exploring the 'complexities of modern online courtship' and gendered behavioural practises. This striking investigation of romance and intimacy in the digital age questions the role of an artist's muse. Adams' own preparation for this exhibition involved the development of an online relationship through a dating website, where she was aggressively pursued by a man using the exhibition's titular handle of MAVERICK. The subsequent events served as the creative impetus to what we are shown in this series of work. We've given you a small preview below, courtesy of the artist. MAVERICK runs until the 11th of October at Moana.
