Monkeyhouse Festival by Thomas Ling
Adelaide's underground punk-rock scene is alive and well.
Unbeknownst to us, there was a rad little laneway festival in Adelaide last weekend called Monkeyhouse Festival. Fortunately for us, photographer Thomas Ling was there capture some of the action as acts like Dumb Punts and WA's own Hideous Sun Demon tore the place up. We'll leave it to Thomas to fill you in a little further, along with some rad pics below:
"I recently covered Monkeyhouse Festival in Adelaide - a laneway rock'n'roll event featuring some rad local acts as well as bands from interstate. The event was supported by Music SA's 'Umbrella Winter City Sounds' program, as well as Splash SA, both combining to keep the city streets busy and vibrant throughout the winter months...
"Despite the rain, there were a tonne of crew who came out to support the first of this DIY style event put on by Swirl Records and Capitalsound Studios. Dumb Punts (Vic) were a highlight, Hideous Sun Demon from WA tore the stage apart, and SIAMESE (SA) led the way for the local acts. I've attached some shots from the night... It's exciting to see the underground punk rock scene growing in Adelaide."
