London-based artist drops his highly anticipated mixtape of emotional modern r&b

After building hype across a string of singles over the last year or so, North-West London based Kamal. has unveiled his new 10-track mixtape, the deep & emotional so here you are, drowning.

Crafted over nearly a two year period of documenting “the specific feeling of trying to stay afloat; the tensions between codependency and martyrdom in a relationship, and ultimately drowning in it all”, Kamal.’s inspiration for the mixtape’s title came from Caleb Zaumah Nelson’s modern classic novel, Open Water.

Alongside the mixtape comes latest single white wine, complete with a striking music video that continues the projects themes, featuring an underwater Kamal.

Regarding white wine, Kamal. says “white wine is essentially a memorial to a relationship in the form of a list. The verses simply list specific things that remind me of an ex-partner, and although the song starts rather optimistically, the second verse highlights some of the more sinister things that provoke those memories.”

Check out the video for white wine and give the whole mixtape a listen below.
