CLYPSO drops fiery remix of debut single YOLO, shares her fav sweaty bangers

The Sydney artist-on-the-rise shares the remix as a part of Rekorderlig's Sauna Sounds series, a multi-part series featuring B Wise and more to come.

Australian electronic artist-on-the-rise CLYPSO has become one of our favourites of late, with the colourful and energetic musician proving time and time again that she's an artist to watch in 2018. She teamed up with fellow rising star Kwame on the catchy and tropical-flavoured Middle Ground, released one of this year's most animated bangers with Pop Roll Flow in the midst of a national tour with PNAU, dimmed things down with the more low-key Save Me and has also collaborated with Paces, but the journey all kicked off with her debut single YOLO. "Her sound, particularly evident on YOLO, is like a modernised take on tribal electronica, with a bouncy, whistling production which livelily prances around underneath's CLYPSO's vocal work, reminiscent of names like M.I.A. or on a national level, someone like Sampa The Great," we said when the first single dropped, which at the time, felt like an artist really finding a unique lane to stride in – which she definitely has done over the last year or two.

Now she's remixed her debut as a part of Rekorderlig's sweaty Sauna Sounds series, which sees a bunch of great Australian musicians from a vast range of genres comes to together to share new songs (or takes on songs) filmed in – and inspired by – sweaty Swedish saunas. Following on from B Wise and Nick Nuisance and The Delinquents, CLYPSO's edit of YOLO is rattling, jungle-infused take of her debut that highlights the rhythm and groove of the single's catchy bassline. "For the sauna recording of YOLO, I stripped down the instrumentation of the original song to create a loose jungle genre track," she says on the remix. "I rewrote it for the space to emphasise two things; the wooden and very steamy quality of the sauna. You might hear some rattlesnake samples on my drum kit and I included some housey basslines in the second verse." Watch the clip below, and revisit the past few Rekorderlig Sauna Sounds sessions HERE while we wait for the weekly episodes to continue.

In celebration of the remix's release, CLYPSO has also shared a couple of favourite sweaty bangers from over the years, which in true CLYPSO fashion, are high-BPM heart-rate-risers that are about as colourful and lively as they are addictive. Check 'em out below:
