Live Sessions: Adrian Dzvuke - Phone Me When You Lonely Melody
Ahead of his headline performance at SPOTLIGHT 002, we welcome one of West Australia's best performers to the Live Sessions stage.
Oh, how far Adrian Dzvuke has come. Over the last few years, the musician has blossomed into one of Perth's most exciting musical forces, with a string of singles and shows solidifying his craft both in recording and on the live stage - something we've had the upmost pleasure of witnessing many times since his debut.
In 2021, however, Adrian Dzvuke is reaching his highest peak to date. Last month, he shared his debut EP Phone Me If You Lonely, an eight-strong collection of tracks that showcase the genre-veering prowess of Adrian Dzvuke, and how he's able to bring life to anything he writes about.
"I always knew I wanted to showcase all versions of myself in my first project," he said with the EP's release. "Being raised in Zimbabwe and moving to Australia at age 12 was quite a significant time in my life as I now realise how that influenced me as an artist. I always had a hard time fitting into specific groups all through primary school and high school because I was friends with everyone. Being an African immigrant people would also expect me to act a certain way or be friends with certain people. I never understood this and I guess I've always made efforts to make sure everyone around me felt included and tried my best to build bridges between friendship groups. I say all this because, now that I look back, I realise that this EP is exactly that. It's music that travels in different worlds without feeling the need to be anything but itself."
Now, we're stoked to welcome Adrian Dzvuke to the Live Sessions stage, as he dances his way through a collection of tracks plucked from the EP, joined by his live band and special guests CHISEKO, Jewel Owusu and Princess Khanya. It arrives ahead of his headline performance at SPOTLIGHT 002, our new monthly music discovery party that continues into its second edition led by Dzvuke, as well as Racka Chachi, Anesu, and a late-night takeover from the Third Degree Records crew.
You can find more information and buy tickets to the show here, but otherwise, strap it, and try to keep up with Adrian Dzvuke's moves as he joins the #LiveSessions alumni today:
