Watch Injury Reserve - Outside

Abstract hip-hop experimentalists deliver epic & emotional music video for album opener

One of the most interesting hip-hop records of 2021 was Injury Reserve's By The Time I Get To Phoenix, that paired twisted, out of this world production with the group's esoteric yet personal lyrics, delivered in all mannger of engaging flows.

Today they unveil the music video (short film?!) for the first cut from the record, Outside. Soak up all nine minutes of "Brutalist splendour, cement, and decaying monsteras, the video spirals between the mundane and the absurd. Shots galavant between fires meticulously kept lit, steaks burnt to crisp, empty stone amphitheaters, and pumping spotlights. Relief comes with the track’s instrumental release, where gurgling electronica and glitchy synth lines crescendo to a short circuit, and dusk falls."
