Watch: Harvey Sutherland - Type A feat. sos

Melbourne-based producer, DJ and synth lord gives us the latest single from forthcoming debut album

Hot on the heels of Feeling of Love feat. DāM-Funk, Harvey Sutherland shows a completely different side of his soon to be released debut album Boy, with Type A feat. sos out today.

In contrast to the irresistible funk and groove of Feeling of Love, Type A comes in hot with almost post punk stylings with a sprinkle of new wave flavour, all retaining Sutherland’s penchant for all manner of layered synths. Motorik, driving drums push the song forward alongside deeb, bouncy synth bass lines and sos’ deadpan, rapid fire vocal delivery rounding things out.

Type A comes with a colour drenched 80s-esque music video, with director Triana Harnandez saying of the video: “In preparation for this clip I read a lot about Type As and discovered I'm one myself - for better and worse. Given this realization I wanted to holistically depict various aspects behind this personality trait - the interactions between ego and confidence, creative ambition and self-pressure and amidst all that, moments of emotional vulnerability which are subtle , often hiding in the shadows, but very present and beautiful in their own ways.”

Harvey Sutherland’s new album Boy is out April 29 via Clarity Recordings / Virgin Music Australia
