John Butler, SLUMBERJACK and Jebediah lead SOTA Festival's 2019 lineup

The free, all-ages showcase of WA's best musicians returns for another year, this time at Burswood Park.

SOTA Festival - formerly known as State of the Art Festival - has become somewhat of an institution for WA musicians and lovers of WA music, with the free, all-ages event offering a rare opportunity for the younger crowds - or those wanting something a little more family-friendly - to catch a day loaded with the state's best talents. Over the years, the festival has hosted basically everyone to arise from the west coast - San Cisco, Eskimo Joe and Birds of Tokyo among recent headliners - and this year's event is no different, launching today with a bunch of big announcements including their first lineup billing.

First up, comes the obvious detail that SOTA will make a return on WA Day - Monday, June 3rd - this time taking over a new venue, Burswood Park, which will evolve into a multi-stage venue loaded with activations, inflatables, roving performers and a full food and drink section titled Eats Street. Then, there's the lineup: 14 artists that truly encapsulate WA's music scene from the old to the new, covering a wide array of sounds and styles with a strong, diverse billing, featuring none other than:

Drapht
Family Shoveller Band
FLOSSY
Great Gable
Hyclass
Jebediah
John Butler
Katy Steele
Reija Lee
SLUMBERJACK
The Struggling Kings
Tether
T$oko
Your Girl Pho

There's a lot to love in there, from classic WA big guns - John Butler, Jebediah, Drapht - to an exciting next generation we find ourselves constantly talking about, from FLOSSY and Great Gable to Reija Lee and T$oko. When it comes to genres, SLUMBERJACK and Reija Lee cover the more electronic side of things, while T$oko and Hyclass cover a quickly-blossoming Perth hip-hop scene, Great Gable and FLOSSY are some exciting names in our indie world, while a few curveball acts present slices of soul, jazz, and more.

Oh, we almost forgot the best bit: the festival is still free. Grab more information HERE.
