Video Premiere: Hey! Astro - Wonderland

Emerging Central Coast-based artist on the rise explores new sounds on new single of alternative r&b, take a first watch of the music video

Young Aussie hip-hop artist on the rise Hey! Astro had a big 2022, dropping a string of singles that saw accolades including triple j Unearthed’s Track of the Day, featured in Rolling Stone as well as all manner of Apple Music and Spotify love. Looking to keep this momentum rolling, he’s back with smooth new single Wonderland, with the music video premiering on Pilerats today.

A contemporary love song in the form of a trappy, laidback cut of modern r&b, Wonderland was mixed by Sid Mallick (ONEFOUR, Doja Cat), and sees Hey! Astro's emotional, tender vocals shine over booming 808s and stirring strings, resulting in poignant yet poppy, genre-melding sounds.

This song is essentially a love letter to someone who is unsure and weary because of their past,Hey! Astro explains. “This is me asking to prove myself and show what love is supposed to look like.”

Alongside the single, Hey! Astro has readied a nostalgic, intimate video that sees him in reflective and pensive mood, exploring a residence that brings to mind many a first city-suburban share house.
