The Melbourne four-piece share their debut album a few days early, and it's a darn good listen.

Even if you aren't familiar with their work thus far, HEXDEBT are providing a lot to be excited about. Over the last two years, the Melbourne post-punk four-piece have stepped forward as one of the diverse scene's most exciting and promise-filled names, something they've particularly strengthened with two singles in 2019 thus far - Loops and its follow-up, Gemini. Exploring "the work we do to break specific habits", Loops is a single that proves a perfect introductory point to a band on the brink of a full, national break-out; whether it be the pressing, dominative vocals of their lead vocalist Agnes Whalan or the delicacy of the instrumental underneath, which unites a pacing percussion section with playful melodies and rich guitar work.

Not just their first single for 2019, Loops was also the next tease of the band's long-awaited debut album Rule of Four, which arrives via the esteemed Poison City Records this Friday, April 26th. It's a record that promises to showcase the band's versatility and craft for uniting thick instrumentals with commanding, powerful vocals, which across the album's ten-track duration, covers the various systematic issues and problematic customs the band and its members are faced with day in, day out: oppression, capitalism and complex systems of power (and their hope for a gradual dismantling of these systems) proving among the album's most prevailing themes. With a selection of shows planned across May, today we're stoked to premiere the album a few days early, and as promised, it's a powerful and inspiring call-to-arms of such that really presents every facet of HEXDEBT and their aims, whether it be musically, lyrically, or in their image.
