Sound States, West Australia's music industry mentorship program, is back in 2022

After a successful debut year, the three-day program re-launches in February 2022 to empower an entirely new class of music managers.

A lot of brilliant things were born from the storm of uncertainty that defined 2020, but Perth's Sound States mentorship program was up there with the best (and most wholesome). The brainchild of Perth's 360 Artist Logistics, Sound States was a two-day mentorship program that aimed to empower Western Australian music managers (and self-managed musicians) through close-knit group sessions and panel discussions, allowing a new generation to learn from people who have been through it all in the past.

The 2020 program covered everything from streaming pitching to grant writing and touring; a one-stop encapsulation of the music industry's ins and outs, from people who know it better than anyone else. Last year, these mentors included Jaguar Jonze, managers working alongside everyone from Great Gable to Psychadelic Porn Crumpets, and representatives of Pilerats (howdy), APRA AMCOS, WAM, Believe and more - with plenty more lined up for 2022's sessions.

Next year, Sound States expands into a three-day program to be held at the Fremantle Arts Centre from February 8th to February 10th 2022, allowing an extra day for the West Australian music community to come together and empower a brilliant ensemble of driven musicians and music managers. In 2022, there'll be 15 mentees invited to attend the program at no cost - including three from regional Western Australia, who will have all their travelling costs and what-not else covered - with a full list of mentors available sometime soon.

In the meantime, applications to be a 2022 mentee are open now - check 'em out here. There's a couple of terms and conditions and what-not, but if you're eligible and wanting to take your music career seriously, then Sound States is one of the most beneficial things you can do - trust us on that. Learn a bit more about last year's program here, if you're interested in knowing a bit more about what to expect.

Stay tuned for more to come.
