Madlib Set To Return To Australia

Legendary producer & DJ joins the bill for Naarm/Melbourne’s RISING festival to headline the closing night party

One of the most prolific and influential producers in hip hop, Madlib, is set to head back down under to close out Melbourne’s arts & music festival RISING on Sunday June 18.

Otis Jackson, better known as Madlib and also known as Quasimoto/Lord Quas, Yesterdays New Quintet, Beat Konducta and more has been making some of the most interesting and innovative beats in hip hop and wider genres for 30 years now, and alongside J Dilla is considered one of the greatest to ever do it.

As well as his solo work and countless behind the scenes production work for other artists, Madlib has famously collaborated with MF DOOM (Madvillain), J Dilla (Jaylib) and most recently with Freddie Gibbs (MadGibbs), as well as having Four Tet co-produce his 2021 LP Sound Acestors.

Madlib is set to close out the RISING festival, which runs from June 7 to June 18, whose other international acts cover a diverse range of sounds, with the likes of Thundercat, Weyes Blood, The Damned, Cornelius and more heading down. Meanwhile, homegrown talent includes the likes of Mo’Ju, RVG, Paul Kelly, Big Yawn and many, many more.
