Dive Into The World Of The Apollo Project

Some stunning photos from NASA's Apollo missions.

"Let's science the shit out of this," a line in The Martian that I'm sure will see Matt Damon go down in film history again alongside his continual habit of getting stuck in places (c'mon Matt you've been doing this since Saving Private Ryan). The other amazing thing about the whole film is how mind-boggling space is, I'm not sure about anyone else gets like this but after seeing this and Interstellar I spent the next 48 hours feeling very small, wondering why we hadn't discovered other forms of life and then coming to the conclusion they didn't want to meet us. And it gets better because with the formation of the Project Apollo Archive, a site created externally of NASA but making use of NASA's very open attitude to image-sharing we can all marvel at space some more. So for a moment kick-back and dig through images from the Apollo Missions, manned and unmanned missions conducted by NASA into space from 1961 to 1975, where astronauts actually scienced the shit out of it and went into freakin' space.
