Listen: Kelela - Rewind

The R & B singer shares a brand new track from her hotly anticipated sophomore release.

L.A.-based R & B singer Kelela has definitely been making us sweat the release of her new body of work - the Hallucinogen EP - which will be the follow up to her incredible 2013 debut mixtape Cut 4 Me. Fans were expecting it at the beginning of this year but nada - and it was only recently Kelela announced October 9 as the release date, via the esteemed Warp Records. If you wanna see the tracklisting, Kelela posted a screenshot to her Facebook a while back. One of Kanye West's tapped producers, Arca, and DJ Dahi, will also contribute to the forthcoming EP.

A few days ago we received our first taste of Hallucinogen via Rewind - when it was premiered via Zane Lowe's radio show Beats 1 World Record. The track, which is produced by her long-time homie Kingdom, with assistance from Girl Unit, is (according to Kelela in a recent piece in NY Mag) "a departure from what you heard on Cut 4 Me. It's glossy, and it's more hip-hop-based."

Kelela's amped up the live side of things too, recently performing at the huge Primavera in Barcelona, and at Atlanta's Afro Punk festival, alongside Public Enemy, Kaytranda, Tyler The Creator and more. Listen / free download Rewind below, and remind yourself of Kelela's awesomeness by watching her perform one of her earliest hits, Bank Head, at Pitchfork Music Festival last year.
