Lakyn details his & Pains tour support acts ahead of east-coast shows this week

The rising Australian name will be playing in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this week with some super special guests.

Two weeks ago we were welcomed into the world of rising Australian rapper Lakyn, who at the time, was releasing his incredibly diverse and versatile latest EP, & Pains. "& Pains is a six-track exploration of this unique and quite left-field sound (unique to Australia, at least), with producers such as Kuren and Jia-Lih aiding the Melbourne up-and-comer warp and flip every facet of his influences and inspiration," we said on the EP on release, which came with a trio of east-coast dates that are quickly approaching. "The end result is a six-track release that while vastly different vibe-wise, are joined by this smooth and sultry R&B-like feeling which is simply irresistible, particularly thanks to Lakyn's polished vocal."

His genre-less EP has been on fairly heavy rotation ever since it arrived and with his Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney shows going down this weekend – the first of which, at Sydney's Lansdowne Hotel, is on Thursday September 27 – we're keen to see how he translates it into the live show, especially considering the supports he managed to nab for the three-date affair. Teaming up with Lakyn on his Australian tour are three acts that have been heavily referred to as the future of Aus hip-hop and R&B – Nardean in Sydney, Charlie Threads in Melbourne, and finally, Blaq Carrie in Brisbane.

To celebrate, we got Lakyn himself to dive a touch further into the support acts, telling us why he picked the acts he chose (aside from them being great, of course). Dive into it below with the full tour dates below that, and grab your tickets and more information HERE.

Lakyn on his & Pains tour support acts:

Blaq Carrie has bars for days and a real old school feel, I’m getting some Fugees vibes. hip hop is really progressing in Australia and it’s exciting, Make sure you’re down early to check out her set!

I’m hyped to have Charlie Threads’ supporting in Melbs. By all reports, he is zesty as hell. All it takes is a quick glance at his insta to know. His tracks Unavailable and Questions are dope, you should check them out!

Nardean has some really dreamy Lo-fi hip-hop beats and it’s obvious she goes through some ink writing down her lyrics. She’s a wordsmith that deserves whatever she desires. I’m really looking forward to having her support me in Sydney.

Tour Dates:

Thu, 27th September – Lansdowne Hotel, Sydney (with Nardean)
Fri, 28th September – Black Bear Lodge, Brisbane (with Blaq Carrie)
Thu, 4th October – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne (with Charlie Threads)
